Re: Police Officer, advertised on Monster
Dear Mr. Richards:
I was interested to read City of Sometown’s posting on Monster for an entry-level police officer. For as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to pursue a career in law enforcement, and the opportunity to serve and protect within my hometown community is my dream job.
Here’s why I am a strong candidate for this position:
Training & Credentials: After graduating top of my class from XYZ Law Enforcement Academy to earn my Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification, I pursued an AAS in law enforcement from XYZ Community College. Last month I earned my degree with honors, along with CPR and first aid certifications. As a result of this training, I offer a solid foundation in police fundamentals such as:
Physically Fit: An avid fitness enthusiast, I participate in marathons and incorporate weight training and kickboxing into my routine. These activities have prepared me for the physical rigors of police patrolling, safely restraining/subduing combative individuals and performing emergency rescue and response work.
Community-Minded: As a native of Sometown, I am deeply committed to the welfare of the community. After graduating from Sometown High School, I stayed active in my local church and Kiwanis Club. These close community ties will assist in fostering positive relationships and furthering police-community goodwill.

RE: Police Officers, October 18, 2013
Dear Susan Mitchell,
I read with interest your posting for Police Officers. I believe I possess the necessary skills and experience you are seeking and would make a valuable addition to your company.
My background has prepared me well for the role of Police Officers. In particular, my experience as a police officer protecting embassies during times of conflict and public demonstrations has given me solid expertise so that I can perform all of the job requirements listed in the job posting. I have attended risk assessments for royal family duties, closely monitoring crowds for potential threats or persons of concern. In addition to my natural leadership abilities, I offer a unique talent for assessing urgent situations and resolving critical issues quickly and accurately.
I am certain that my resume will give you a greater understanding of my qualifications for this exciting opportunity. I will call your office on October 18, 2013 to discuss the arrangement of a formal meeting.
I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with and learn from you and your talented team. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
